MEET MELANIE

My name is Melanie Nycole and I am a Teach For America Alumna, an advocate for educational equity, as well as an education and wellness consultant. I dedicated the last 12 years of my life to empowering communities through education and social change, through my work I seek to develop the whole person.

As an educational leader, my mission is to advance the development of academic, social and emotional competence for all students, using data analysis and industry expertise to help school leaders achieve practical results with real impact. I believe in the power of education to close the gaps that separate students from low-income backgrounds and students of color from other young Americans.

An experienced educator, I served in the roles of Teacher, Reading Specialist, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, Implementation Specialist, and Professional Development Coach since 2009. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Dance from the University of Maryland College Park and a Master of Science Degree in Education and Social Change from the University of Miami.

Always learning, and eternally a student, I hope to share the gifts that education has given me, alongside what yoga teachings have imparted in my life. During a stressful time, I turned to yoga to find a balance between physical, mental, and spiritual strength. Through my struggle and hardship, yoga shifted the way I experience life by helping me rediscover the courage to leap into the dark, honor the love and strength within and surrender control by letting life flow.

I am a 200 hour certified yoga teacher and received my certification from Sacred in Brooklyn under the guidance of Stephanie Battle and Dara Cole. I also hold a Hot HIIT Certification along with my B.A. in Dance. And it doesn’t stop at yoga or dance, I teach HIIT and Dance Fusion as well as classes centered in other fitness styles. With a focus on alignment, my teachings utilize breathwork as a meditative way to stay present, releasing what does not serve the body and mind in a positive way. My intention is to support healing in the body and clear the mind to connect with your spiritual self. My classes are dynamic, challenging, rigorous, heartfelt, and always taught with a sense of joy, love, and strength!

Beyond my work building more equitable and peaceful learning environments, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, traveling, dancing, reading, and art. I hope for clients closely aligned to who I was when I started yoga in 2011: someone eager to connect to their inner-light, embody self-love and vibrate higher to walk with purpose. I love working with clients committed to evolving, elevating, and living a life full of love and joy.

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.
